many of you are aware, this last week the governor has issued a
confusing notice to the state of California, which affects churches
among other entities. Many have asked how we will respond, and how we will conduct our services in light of this confusion.
is our belief and conviction that we are an “essential and critical”
entity, and therefore it is necessary for us to continue to meet. We must continue to meet for the following reasons:
First, God’s Word instructs us to meet together regularly. When
Peter preached in the Book of Acts, and 3,000 souls came to Christ, the
standard was set for meeting regularly, as stated in Act 2:42 “And they
continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread, and in prayers.” Hebrews
10:25 also instructs us in the importance of regular fellowship: “…not
forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of
some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day
the spiritual and emotional welfare of people are dependent upon their
relationship to God, which is reinforced through regular sacred
assembly. Recent statistics show a rise in depression, suicide, and mental health related issues. These issues can be solved through an active relationship with Jesus Christ…not by limiting access to church!Thirdly, in order to meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of our congregation, we must meet regularly. The
church should be on the forefront of providing a “welfare check” for
individuals, and this must be done in person through regular fellowship.
We continue to follow all reasonable precautions as prescribed by the CDC, and we will continue to do so. In
addition to taking temperatures upon entry, providing sterilizing
stations, requiring face masks to be worn, and structuring our sanctuary
for social distancing, we are also now requiring congregants to sign a
waiver upon entry, which affirms the participant’s knowledge of the
existence of Coronavirus and the potential risks that exist when meeting
in public. Public notices are also posted around the church building.
We continue to offer our services online at www.calvarychapel-theway.org. Simply click on the “Live Broadcast” link. Our youth ministries (Jr. High and High School) will be meeting outside, and will also offer to meet through Zoom. Children’s Ministries will also have the opportunity to meet outside.
Christians, we are reminded that these times are opportunities for
spiritual growth as we learn to trust the Lord in new ways. Psalm
9:10 says, “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.” We as a church continue to put our hope and trust in the Lord.
Please continue to pray for our church and support it as you are able. You
may continue to make your weekly contributions online by clicking the
“Give Online” link at the top of our homepage on our website.
church body is truly a family, and we want you to know that most
importantly we are here for you. These current changes are temporary,
and we will get through this. Always remember that God is ultimately in
control! “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Ps. 46:1)
